Quickshot: No Hellboy 3

A while back director Guillermo del Toro took to twitter in a poll to gauge interest in Hellboy 3. However he also took to twitter recently to announce it’s 100% not happening and that’s the last that will be said on the matter.

Ron Perlman, who portrayed the titular hero in 2004s Hellboy and reprised the role in 2008s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, originally sparked the possibility of a third entry in the series by rallying fans to talk about it, cry out for it across social media. Then once del Toro ran his poll and accumulated the number of votes he needed, he arranged a meeting between himself, Ron Perlman and the deciding powers that be to discuss getting this movie off the ground. Unfortunately that meeting seems to not have had the desired outcome.

Reports say that del Toro had a very clear vision of what he wanted the movie to be and that that vision would cost up to $200 million dollars. The problem there is that the first two movies, well well recieved by both critics and fans, earned shit at the box office. No studio could really be blamed for turning it down when there’s no justification to bankroll the project, which is a shame because I would really enjoy seeing get this series receive the ending get it deserves.

I find it hard to believe that there will never be another movie based on the Hellboy character but it definitely will not star Ron Perlman or be directed by Guillermo del Toro. A reboot I’m sure will surely be on the cards maybe 5-10 years down the line.

As always thanks for reading, what do you think? would you have liked to see a Hellboy 3? Let me know in the comments we’ll chat about it. Till next time, take it easy.
